FAQ'S

Most frequent questions and answers

In law, conveyancing is the transfer of legal title of real property from one person to another, or the granting of an encumbrance such as a mortgage or a lien. A typical conveyancing transaction has two major phases: the exchange of contracts and completion.

A conveyancer is a licensed professional who specialises in providing advice and information about the sale of a property. Conveyancers don’t necessarily have to be solicitors but they often undertake this work.

conveyancer is someone licensed specifically to handle title transfer, but without being a fully qualified lawyer. Their expertise is focused around the process sof buying and selling a house and is therefore widely viewed as a better value for money solution to using solicitors. A solicitor may be able to provide more general property advice, tax and other broader issues.

  1. Receive instructions, review and prepare legal documents for a purchase or sale.
  2. Work with you to provide legal advice with the oversight of a solicitor as needed
  3. Arrange and finalise financial adjustments
  4. Transfer of property ownership
  5. Arrange, attend and transact the final settlement.

Generally, the fee amounts are provided up front. An estimated value is provided to the client and deducted on settlement day. These fees are clearly itemised.

A conveyancer’s fees for selling a house can be anywhere from $500 to $2000 depending on the particulars and complexity of your sale.
